Since the early days of the web, search has been the ubiquitous discovery tool for web users to find the answers to their questions and solutions to their needs. And since the wide adoption of search, organizations have vied for position in search results using a variety of strategies and tactics to capitalize on this rich source of web traffic.
This class will explain how search engines select websites for top placement (and free traffic). Students will learn how to determine their SEO objective, find the right keywords to target, develop an SEO friendly website with on-site optimization and create content that attracts links. We will also discuss how social media and user behavior affect SEO, provide tips for tracking results over time and suggest SEO tools that can you save you time and money.

Dale Bertrand – Managing Partner, Chimaera Labs
Dale Bertrand runs Chimaera Labs, a digital marketing agency in Kendall Square, Cambridge. He has over a decade of search marketing experience. In his current role, Dale oversees projects involving organic SEO, AdWords and lead generation. His clients are primarily venture-backed startups, including several TechStars Boston companies. Prior to founding Chimaera Labs, Dale started two online lead generation businesses providing search engine based customer acquisition services to clients in the wedding, corporate events and education industries. In his spare time, Dale enjoys tennis, skiing and urban adventures with his two kids.
