Cambridge Semantic Web Monthly Meetup

Location:
MIT Stata Center - Star Room 32 Vassar Street Star Room on 4th Floor Cambridge, MA
Description:

Tom Plasterer, AstraZeneca: The Path to Linked Data in BioPharma. “Driven by market pressures the Biopharmaceutical industry can no longer sustain the current business model focused on blockbuster drugs encumbered by monolithic supply chains and poor collaboration.  As this model changes to incorporate nimble networks of suppliers, collaborators, partners and regulators the industry can use linked data principles to better interoperate in this dynamic environment allowing it to focus on its core business of delivering valuable pharmaceuticals in a timely manner.”

Evren Sirin, Cambridge Semantics: Stardog 1.0.  “This talk will describe Stardog, an RDF database that is fast, zero config, lightweight, and feature-rich. We will talk about the features of Stardog 1.0 such as very fast query answering, free text search, transactions, OWL 2 reasoning, and Integrity Constraint validation. The differences between commercial Stardog Enterprise and free Stardog Community versions will be explained.”
