Piranha Pond Pitch Party is Back on South Coast November 13

November 13 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

You’ve Heard of the Shark Tank … Welcome to the Piranha Pond, bringing entrepreneurs and investors together.

The annual Piranha Pond program on the South Coast and is a partnership of the South Coast Entrepreneurs Collaborative (SoCoECo), formerly the Southern New England Entrepreneurs Forum. Entrepreneurs seeking funding have a five-minute opportunity to convince an investor panel to give them the money for their start-up, which must have either revenue or a working prototype.

For the first time, the best pitch will win more than $10,000 in cash and in-kind services.  Entrepreneurs will each pitch for five minutes, and a panel of angel investors will determine the most compelling pitch.  There will also be an audience favorite award.  The ideal company will be technology oriented, beyond the idea stage, have the potential to be a scale company, and will have raised funds from friends/family or grants such as SBIR’s or from state agencies.

Using a format similar to the popular television show Shark Tank, the Piranha Pond enables the investors to provide feedback to the entrepreneurs about their presentations and companies, and information to all about why they decide to be “In” or “Out”. If they are “In”, they will meet with the entrepreneur at a later time to discuss the entrepreneur’s company. If they are “Out”, they will let the entrepreneur and audience know why.

The Investor panel of judges will provide a broad spectrum of investment interests. Investors are: Edward Melia, Managing Director: Evolution Global Growth Partners; Paul Edelman, Angel Investor; Katherine Putnam, Golden Seeds; Thorne Sparkman, Managing Director, Slater Technology Fund; Gregory Murdoch, Sanders Murdoch.

The Piranha Pond is open to the public, and other investors are expected to be in the audience.
Admission is $20, which includes pizza and salad, alliances $15, or join SoCoECo for $75 and attend free. Register at www.SoCoECo.org.
