Overview: The Webinar will discuss methods to insure that employees are properly classified under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The US Department of Labor is making a concerted push to insure that employees are not improperly classified as Exempt when they should be classified as Non-exempt and thus eligible for overtime.

Upon completion of this session, attendees will learn key factors that would determine how an employee is properly classified. The attendee will learn what they can safely and legal deduct pay from exempt employees without ruining the exemption.

Why should you attend: Companies that are subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, which includes the majority of businesses in the US, should pay attention to the necessity of properly classifying employees as exempt employees. Making a mistake can cause companies to have to reclassify workers as and subsequently be required to pay back wages, taxes and penalties. Human Resources managers, Office Managers, and small and mid-size business owners need to be aware of the issues involved.
